Hi, there!

I'm popping in to say a brief hello. I've been extra busy mostly not-writing since my last email/post, because I have been very busy having and taking care of a new baby! This time has reminded me that everything has a season, including writing projects. I registered to attend a writer's conference in October, so the little bit of writing time I've had these past few weeks has been devoted to polishing the third draft of the first 10 pages of my novel, which an editor and several peers will critique at the conference as part of a roundtable I booked. I'm excited to see if my edits have set my novel on the right track as I continue working on the rest of draft three.

In the meantime, I'm very glad I asked for a much-needed extension on the submission deadline for those 10 pages, and the conference organizers were very understanding when I explained I had just given birth. Although my writing is still important to me, nothing is more important right now than getting plenty of rest, recovering, and being present for my family. The manuscript will still be there, after all.

I've also been very appreciative of support from family, friends, my church community, and others who have helped us through this transition and sent love, care packages, and gifts from all over - including even books for me! My heart overflows with gratitude.
